Okay I'm attempting to get back into blogging...get ready!
So...
We went to Madrid a few weekends ago...maybe a month (yeah, that's how bad I've been at blogging)!
Side note: My mom, grandma, and aunt Sherilyn booked their flights to SPAIN!!! I am so excited!! Our plan is to meet up in Madrid, spend a few days there and then take the train to Barcelona for the rest of the trip. We'll probably take a few day trips from Barcelona, but I'm playing tour guide so we'll see!
It was supposed to be rainy and snowy all weekend but thankfully we just had cold weather but with sunny skies! The program stayed in two separate hotels, completely across the city from each other, it kind of stunk! And of course, our hotel was really far from the center, but we managed. Jody, Erin, Rachel and I shared a room...it was so fun! Our first sleepover! Jody was just getting out of the hospital from her little episode of gastro-something? I forgot the name, but she was having horrible stomach aches and throwing up a lot. She could not even drink water it was so bad! We visited her, of course, and she spent two night there. She had to be really careful with what she was eating, and needed to keep resting more than usual...poor thing! Thankfully, since I'm way behind on blogging she is back to her old self!
So Erin would like to point out that in Spain when you book a double room, you get two beds, but they are pushed right together and share the same headboard. Just a little F.Y.I. so there is no awkward moments. Ha ha...I only know this because I'm looking at her blog right now for ideas to write about from Madrid...because I might not be able to completely remember!
When we arrived on Friday we had some free time to explore the city, did an outdoor walking tour, and then had the rest of the night off. On Saturday we woke up early, visited the Royal Palace of Madrid, and the Museo del Prado. After our tours, we had the rest of the night off. Us girls walked through the Parque del Retiro, which is beautiful and will be amazing in the end of April when I return!
On Sunday we went to the Reina Sofia Museum (which I cannot wait to go back to as well!!) and then went to the El Rastro market, where I got some awesome personalized posters! Then we took the train back to Barcelona and arrived home just in time for dinner. It was a long weekend, but very fun! Our program had some quality bonding time!
Like I said, I'm looking at Erin's blog right now and I just find this paragraph absolutely hilarious so I must include it...
"After not showering all weekend (I know, gross! But the hairdryer in the hotel was shitttty, and it just wouldn't have worked. Again, you all have seen my hair), I get home to see a nice little note from my senora: Sorry, no hot water! I decided to delay taking a shower until later, hoping a miracle would occur and the hot water would come back. No miracles happened last night. When my senora came home, she offered to boil me some water and handed me a ladle, a really old school ladle. It was an interesting experience to say the least, and actually kind of enjoyable! And my senora made it up to me but making an awesome dinner, probably the best I've had since I've been here."
Oh and I forgot to mention Chocolate and Churros, but the picture of Steve is a clear representation...I guess they're pretty common in Spain and they're delicious. We went to the best cafe for them. It's basically hot pudding and delicious, as Eric would describe it, "fried dough with sugar." Alright, that is all for Madrid.
